He initially sold commercial and other vehicles on-line but said the time came to ramp things up, so he began looking for a suitable yard.
The Owen St site ticked all the boxes as it sits within an area of vehicle dealerships not far from the heart of town and has the space to line up the impressive range of vehicles.
His specialisation in commercial vehicles saw the on-line business grow and the same is happening to the on-site business.
The advantage now was they were able to spread the range wider, with top quality utilities and vans joining the line-up, as well as cars.
"At one end of the yard we have about 20 cars and only started that side of it recently."
The commercial side of the business is strong and leads the way in the Bay.
There are trucks of all ranges and sizes lined up, and Andrew's experience in setting up contacts back in Japan ensures he imports the best cars, commercials and trucks he can find.
Dean has been in the auto business for about 10 years now so between them they have a quarter of a century of experience on the Bay scene.
Setting up a top class sales business was essential, and both have been delighted to hear feedback along the lines of its appearance.
It is very professional, and gives the appearance of being part of a top class chain.
"Some people figure we are part of a major franchise but no, we're one of a kind," Dean said.
The bottom line was ensuring their clients got the best deal and the best service, with Andrew's experience on the commercial sales front allowing him to advise on the best vehicle for a specific purpose.
It was about "going above and beyond".
Dean primarily handles the cars, and he follows the same philosophy, with a recent posting on their website summing it up.
"Great to work with during our recent purchase - went over and above, thankyou so much."
