He has toured New Zealand and the world extensively, and next month singer/songwriter/guitarist Paul Ubana Jones will hit Waipawa for a one-off concert.
Brought to the district by the CHB Music Society, he will play at the CHB Municipal Theatre on Saturday, November 7, and promises concert-goers the opportunity to get to know the "essence" of Ubana Jones and his sound.
He describes his music as "acoustic soul - a synthesis of acoustic styles, blending English and American folk tunes with Afro rhythm".
It is a style that has been described by past reviewers and audience members as "a whole-of-body experience - for the player and the listener", and "inspiring".
Ubana Jones has spent more than 43 years as a professional musician and has played with Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Taj Mahal, Keb Mo', Tuck and Patti, Crowded House and Norah Jones.
