People striding out in a previous Mitre 10 Mega Walk.

The eighth annual Mitre 10 Mega Walk is fast approaching, with courses to suit all ages and fitness levels. All proceeds raised will again go to CanTeen and be put towards the many activities and camps it provides for members.

Mitre 10 marketing manager Kerry Meehan said the event had proven a lucrative fundraiser.

"In the last four years we have been supporting CanTeen with this event, we have raised more than $75,000."

She said it had a varied array of participants, from the very young to the young at heart - and finely-tuned athletes to those with physical challenges.

The Hawke's Bay Today sponsored event starts at Mitre 10 Mega, Hastings at 7.30am on Sunday, November 8.

Participants will follow a clearly-defined route through Hastings to the showgrounds.

The course then heads towards Whakatu before joining the Rotary Pathway at Pakowhai Park, near the Chesterhope Bridge.

It follows the Pathway to Ahuriri with the finish line at Napier's Mitre 10 Mega.

The Hafele Half Mega is a 15km run or walk that starts at Awatoto, opposite the southern end of the Fertiliser Works, at 9am. This event also follows the Rotary Pathway and finishes at Mitre 10 Mega, Napier.

The Dunlop Short Mega is a 6.5km version, which starts behind Ocean Spa on the Marine Parade at 10am.

The Hits Mega Meander is a 3.5km walk or meander, starting at 10am at Perfume Point at Ahuriri.

There is no competitively-timed aspect to this year's event.
