Sydney-based dancer, producer and choreographer Megan Hanley is back in Hawke's Bay with her latest Children's Creative Movement and Arts Education programme.
Classes began in Havelock North at K Studio, Porter Drive, on Monday and will run until tomorrow.
They start up again at Dance Express on Taradale Road in Napier on Tuesday and finish on April 30.
During the two five-day programmes children are split into age groups to learn simple dance routines - working towards a final production of The Mad Hatters Tea Party at the end of each week.
"We just finished the Sydney leg and it was amazing," Ms Hanley said.
New Zealand mime and comic Fergus Aitken, aka Mr Fungus, will play the role of Mad Hatter and is also involved with teaching the classes.
"It has been great already," Mr Aitken said.
"This programme is different to anything else in New Zealand - it's a mix of various performances, with a bit of the arts as well."
The children's classes are based on a concept developed in 1968 by Ms Hanley's mother, Shirley Jarrett, who dedicated six decades to dance in Hawke's Bay.
Ms Hanley first trialled the children's classes in Australia in 2009.
Mrs Jarrett retired 15 years ago and died in July last year.
It was when Ms Hanley was home for her mother's funeral that she decided to bring the programme back to Hawke's Bay.
