Police arrested a man after a robbery at a Hastings petrol station this morning.

Police said in a statement that the robbery occurred at the Z petrol station on Heretaunga St at 8.30am today. Police allege the offender threatened the shop attendant and was given a small amount of money. There were a number of customers in the store at the time.

The robber ran from the service station but was found a short distance away by police responding to the robbery. The cash was also recovered.

No-one was injured in the robbery and police say store staff and customers did everything right to ensure the early apprehension of the robber, the statement said.
