A man threatening to jump off a roof sparked a police callout early this morning.

The Armed Offenders Squad and negotiating team were called to Charles St Hastings just before 5am.

District Command Centre Senior Sergeant Dan Foley said police were working to try and get the man down from the roof.

He said a domestic dispute had escalated to the man climbing on to the roof and threatening to jump.
