Hawke's Bay Racing's Cheval Room in Hastings was transformed in to a 60s extravaganza on Saturday night in support of the Leg Up Trust.
Organisers Howard Padman, Margie Hardy and Kim Howard joined forces and created an evening that celebrated the "fabulous" 60s era of musical revolution, peace and love.
"We realised it was 50 years since that era where we had amazing school dances, which were a lot of fun," Mr Padman said.
Up to 200 people attended the dance and about $2500 was handed over to the Leg Up Trust on the night.
Mr Padman said there were enough ageing baby boomers around so it was about getting together and re-enacting that time they all remember so well.
"Midlife Crisis performed a great selection of 60s music that kept us all on our feet dancing together. I'm sure there will be a few achy body parts, that's for sure."
Just like the old days, instead of having a sit-down dinner an offering of sausage rolls, asparagus rolls and ham off the bone flowed throughout the evening.
Mr Padman said the trio chose to donate to the Leg Up Trust, because they were a smaller charity with a lot of volunteers.
The trust works to help disadvantaged youth who suffer social, behavioural or emotional problems by teaching them horse riding and equine care.
Mr Padman said the evening was a huge success and he was thrilled to be able to celebrate the 60s while also giving back to a local charity.
"It was exceptional and was lovely to get together with friends and family, some had even come from Auckland and Christchurch. It was a great night all round, thanks to all who came."
