Outdoor enthusiasts do not want to miss an outstanding collection of adventure films, which push those involved to the limit.
They have been carefully selected from from the larger New Zealand Mountain Film Festival, which is held in Wanaka each July.
The "Best of the Fest" tours nationally with aprize-winning pick of films featuring snowboarding, kayaking, BMX, rock climbing, ski-mountaineering, all with a distinct Kiwi element. It will be screening at Hawke's Bay's EIT campus on Friday.
From the feats of extreme snowboarder Xavier de La Rue, seeking a new paradise for steep riding at the world's end in Mission Antarctica to Koura Ma (White Gold) with its first attempt to climb and ski 18,250m-high mountains in the Southern Lake District, as well as the adventures of base jumpers testing out new wing suits, there is plenty to excite film-goers.
After three years taking the film festival to New Zealanders, organiser Brett Cotter was excited to show local audiences the collection.
"I think the national tour is really neat, doing a tour around the country you have got to have films that are educational, entertaining, but most of all inspire you.
"It is a good mash-up, we showed it in Taupo and people were coming up after the show saying they could have watched it for hours."
• The screening will run from 6.30pm on Friday at Lecture Theatre 1, K1, EIT Campus, Taradale. Tickets: $20 (adult), $15 (EIT students with ID), from Pedal Power, Taradale.
