When I was a child, I used to love watching The Brady Bunch, which screened from 1969 to 1974 and was recently dug out for another airing on Sky's Jones! channel.
A beloved character on the show was Alice the housekeeper. Ann B Davis, who played her, died at the weekend
after falling and hitting her head at her Texas home. She was 88.
Ann won an Emmy twice - once in 1958 and another the following year, for her role as Schultzy on The Bob Cummings Show. She earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960.
Florence Henderson, who played Carol Brady, took to Facebook to react to the tragic news.
"I am so shocked and sad to learn that my dear friend and colleague, Ann B Davis, died," she wrote. "I spoke with her a couple of months ago and she was doing great!"
Mum always believed in the lessons The Brady Bunch taught young viewers and considered them the ideal family.
Alice was our fave character. Everyone wanted a housekeeper like her. Rest in peace, lovely lady.
