Bay Espresso has teamed up with local company Arano to launch its own "iconic"orange juice for its six Hawke's Bay cafes.

More than 400 250ml-sized bottles have been produced for Bay Espresso's six cafes.

Arano has provided the label artwork and fridges for the partnership, its first with a retailer.

Bay Espresso owner Chris Jarvis said he was pleased with the project.

"Only a Hawke's Bay company with the good old Kiwi ingenuity and No8 wire mentality could pull something like this off," he said. "It would take most corporates years from concept stage to get something like this to market.

"The fact that we could do a 100 per cent pure juice with no additives, preservatives or ultra heat treatment fits with our own company ethos to offer good-for-you, natural products that taste great.

"What we have achieved is really amazing. We have created a little icon right in the heart of Hawke's Bay."

Because there are no preservatives, the juice has a 22-day shelf life.

Arano is owned by Simply Squeezed, a division of Frucor.

Simply Squeezed has been operating since 1991 and was bought by Frucor, the market leader in chilled-juice, in 2009.

It is the largest chilled-juice manufacturing business in the country and employs 100 staff, with 80 based in Hawke's Bay.
