MIDWAY surf lifeguard Cory Taylor has qualified for the prestigious Nutrigrain Ironman series in Australia, one of the youngest Kiwis to ever do so.
The 22-year-old, who is based on the Gold Coast, placed well in the trials for the event held at Alexandra Headland on the Sunshine Coast at
the weekend.
“Cory had a second and a fourth in Saturday’s races and then finished fifth in the final yesterday,” his father Dave Taylor said.
“He is the same age as Cory Hutchings was when he qualified for the competition.”
The series was previously known as the Uncle Tobys Ironman Series and is televised in Australia.
