A Napier boat and crew landed a 119kg striped marlin in the New Zealand Sports Fishing Competition being held this week.
Fishing off Wahoo, Pete Draper caught the marlin east of Penguin Rocks and it took an hour to get the fish into the boat.
The boat and crew competed
in Gisborne Tatapouri Sports Fishing Club’s Liquorland Marlin and Tuna Tournament over the weekend and have carried on fishing from here in the nationals. The nationals run from multiple bases around the country from February 17-24.
