GISBORNE golfer Tessa McDonald is searching for her first individual win after a mixed start by Hawke’s Bay-Poverty Bay (HBPB) on Day 1 of the Toro women’s interprovincial golf tournament in Ashburton yesterday.
HBPB were beaten 5-0 by Canterbury in the morning but bounced back to defeat Tasman 4-1 in
Round 2 of the teams’ matchplay tournament.
McDonald, at No.5 in the team, lost 2 and 1 to Hillary O’Connor (Canterbury) and 4 and 3 to Michele Reardon (Tasman).
HBPB faced defending champions Auckland this morning and Waikato this afternoon.
McDonald, studying teaching in Hamilton for the past two years, narrowly missed selection for the Waikato team but was brought into the HBPB squad.
