Poverty BayPoverty Bay-East Coast representatives past and present were to the fore in men’s competitions over the week.
Anaru Reedy, Simon Jeune and Ian “Spud” Murphy have worn PBEC blazers over their careers, and all three tasted club stableford victories.
Murphy won the division 1 men’s stableford last Thursday, thanks to a back nine of 1-under 35 in his 76-9-67, for 41 points.
Jeune carded 2-over 74-4-70, for 38 points to win division 1 on Saturday.
Reedy had 16 pars and two birdies in his 70-2-70, for 40 points, and the division 1 honours on Sunday.
Poverty Bay is holding a Have A Go Day for women on Monday, February 11 from 9am.
The day will feature nine holes and be played in a team format with golf clubs and “friendly, helpful” club members provided.
Report at 8.30am for a 9am start. It will take around two hours and be followed by a morning tea.

Green chose fishing over the third and final round of the Summer Cup series but his 126 net total for rounds 1 and 2 proved good enough to win the title.
Pittar had a successful anniversary weekend. He won the 17+ men’s net on Sunday with 66 and the net on Monday with 67.
The 66 helped him to the Veterans’ Cup net series title.

McClutchie’s 103-43-60 put her at +11 in the bisque bogey format for the fourth and final round.
She finished on six points for the series and pipped Robyn Ngatai on countback for the overall honours.
Nelson Truman, +8 for the final round, won the men’s title on five points, one ahead of Pat Savage.
