FUN TIME WHĀNAU TIME: Hendrix McCarthy-Green (left), Tana Wimutu-Lam-Sam and Thea-Marie Tobin cool off on the slip and slide at Te Wharau School yesterday.
Te Wharau School held its first whanau day yesterday. It was a special event for families and community members to come together to celebrate and strenthen the connection with the school community.
“We wanted to set a tone on how our year started, one that was inclusive and embraces all
the individuals in our community who play an important role in the education of our kids,” said school principal Mark Harris.
Helping out yesterday were Fire and Emergency personnel who ran the slip and side, Tairāwhiti police who ran a sponge attack activity and Sports Gisborne who organised a tug of war and bouncy castle.
