The last in a series of fundraising rogaine events to be held this Sunday has been postponed.

Due to bad weather, the event will be rescheduled for September 25.

The rogaine — a long-distance cross-country navigation challenge — will take place at Waimanu Forest from 9.30am.

“This time we are going to have two courses available — one that is family- and kid-friendly and another one to push those who have got a bit more experience from participating in our other events,” Tairāwhiti Adventure Trust spokeswoman Amy Spence said.

“These have been really well supported, with over 100 people at each one, and all money goes to the Tairāwhiti Adventure Trust charity which puts back into our community.”

Unlike orienteering, rogaining allows control points to be collected in any order, with attendees given approximately half an hour before they start to familiarise themselves with the map and create a route.

Access to Waimanu Forest is by Riverside Road, with a family map available for $10.

Participants should bring a compass, running shoes, water and a sense of adventure.
