Re: Caregivers need mobility, January 18 letter.
How pathetic. Do they want to be disabled? Sorry, if you need one go to CCS, pay the fee and go through the assessment process. So there are no qualms about using the disabled space because they do a good job? Should we
then allow all who do a good job to park there?
What don’t you get? You are not disabled!
Caregivers have mobility don’t they? Yes, drop the person off, they can sit on the seat to wait, as they are going to walk around the shops anyway, and what’s the problem with parking and walking back to the entrance to continue with the shopping, then reversing the process when you have finished.
While you as an able-bodied person park there, the person who drives and has a disability and needs the extra space to open their door to get out, can’t park. Think carefully about the ethical reasons the parking is provided. I am really staggered to see the ignorance of some people and the mental block to their right to park in these few provided spaces for disabled.
