IF YOU want to know more about what is happening with the navigations project and future urban development, this Wednesday’s Historic Places Tairawhiti Annual General Meeting is the place to be.
Guest speaker De-Arne Sutherland, the project’s manager, will outline the community and iwi-initiated project and report on progress to
date.
Historic interpretations, an inner harbour upgrade and a $1.6m bridge over the Turanganui River to the slipway will represent the point of first meetings between Maori and European.
The wider project incorporates the Titirangi restoration project and extended walk and cycleways.
Significant sites throughout the inner harbour will be enhanced and woven together by stories passed down from iwi, creating an experience much like a living museum.
