A motorcyclist died of his injuries in Gisborne Hospital last night after crashing on Lavenham Road yesterday afternoon.
Police, Fire and Emergency NZ and St John Ambulance were called to the crash site at about the midway point of Lavenham Road at around 4.30pm.
“The bike rider, aged in his
30s, went off the road and crashed into a ditch,” an emergency services spokesman said. “He had suffered critical injuries and was transported to Gisborne Hospital by ambulance.”
Police said the man died later in hospital, with family at his bedside.
“We can confirm he was from Gisborne.”
