The heavy rain predicted for the weekend prompted Gisborne Speedway Club to postpone its opening “mega” meeting tonight.
The 2022-23 season is now scheduled to start next Saturday night.
The club was expecting full fields in all classes for tonight's meeting, with drivers coming from all over the country.
“Sorry
everyone but we have had to make the decision to postpone tonight's meeting,” club president Clyde McGrory said on social media.
“Unfortunately the track is not going to handle any more rain and with plenty more to come, the odds are against us.
