For his philanthropy and services to the community Gisborne businessman Barry Atkinson has been recognised in the 2018 New Year’s Honours List as a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM).
Mr Atkinson founded Gisborne company Electrinet and is a former chairman of Gisborne Riding for Disabled.
Also
on the 2018 New Year’s Honours List is former Ruatoria pilot Denis Hartley, who is awarded the MNZM for services to aviation and rescue. He became the first rescue helicopter pilot in this region in the 1980s.
