CHEERS AND BEERS: Kerry Taggart and Adrian Athy get into the spirit of things at the Gisborne Beer Festival.

The annual Gisborne Beer Festival went off without a hitch on Saturday and it won't be a long wait for the next one.

Organiser Ricky Boyd said there were about 850 people on site at the Royal, including 50 staff.

“It was great, there was a fantastic vibe. Everyone enjoyed the buzz, I think music matched the crowd's vibe and it looked like everyone had a great time.

“Everyone was very well-behaved and had an enjoyable day. The weather was fantastic and didn't overdo it. It started off sunny, then a little bit of high cloud when we needed it and before we all burned.”

The event, Gisborne's second annual beer festival, was delayed from April due to Covid-19.

“Boyd said the festival would run for a third time in April, next year.
