Obviously Eastland Group chief executive Matt Todd either needs to go to Specsavers, or everyone who has seen the Waiau river lately, or the numerous photos we took (hundreds of people!), know he is just trying to cover their arse!

Front up to your stuff-up Eastland Group! We are now hitting the dry season, with no stock water reticulation scheme thanks to your crap.

PS: Mr Todd hasn’t even got his facts right, the flood was in September, three months ago, not November. They’re so incompetent it took them three months to get around to polluting the river.

The lady is correct the floods were in September, not November. The rest of my response is accurate.

What I said was that I flew the river system from Wairoa upstream and if there is any discolouration to the main (Wairoa) river it is very minor. The discolouration is more significant upstream.

We are taking this matter very seriously. We have been working hard to try to fix the damaged gates, and have in fact spent many hundreds of thousands of dollars doing so.

The naturally occurring silt that is flowing into the river has been occurring since September but it has become more apparent as people access the river system over summer. In the lead-up to Christmas we had operations up there seven days a week working to clear the silt and allow the sluice gates to be made fully operable.

We do apologise for any inconvenience that this is causing but please be assured we are trying to fix the problem.
