WITH short yardings of store lambs coming out and a solid demand from local farmers well supplied with good grass, the strong market for them at Matawhero yesterday was not unexpected.
A total of 1863 lambs and a couple of pens of prime sheep comprised the entry and in very
high tempertatures auctioneers hurried the sale along.
An average sized bench had a selection of some nice healthy lambs. The top lines had weight and even the smaller late lambs were full of energy and their colour showed they had had plenty of water.
Pukepapa Station led the male lambs and accepted $70.50 for 131 shorn ram lambs.
Koura Station’s 152 woolly males were close behind at $70.25.
