Opinion
Am I the only one to be less than impressed by the handling of delivery, or rather non-delivery, of our Census documents? And how many other Gisbornites are affected?
Expecting delivery as per TV advertising at the start of last week, I finally decided to contact the Stats NZ people
on Friday. On the website was a section to get your codes in the event of non-delivery. Details entered, I pressed the button. Up comes the message: “Expect delivery within one week.” One week? That would be well past Census day.
Better phone them. Look for the number. Cannot see it, but there is a “Help” section. Lots of answers to questions, but no obvious number. Spot one in a question on what to do if I don’t know my gender. (Which seems a bit strange, but maybe I am just old-fashioned).
Try it, and yes, get through. Apparently, having sent my request through, I am going to get a delivery, but there “hasn’t been a response”. The lady did not know what that meant. When? “Don’t know, but if it hasn’t come by the 4th, phone us.”
But that is Sunday, and we get no delivery over the weekend. So I’ll have to wait.
