THERE is now solid evidence of a relationship between learning and mental agility as people age, and adult learning is good for everyone, says Literacy Turanga manager Rene Babbington.

“Adult learners of all ages and backgrounds report benefits like better self-esteem, greater tolerance, confidence and career prospects.”

The week incorporated International Literacy Day on September 8. This year, Adult Literacy Turanga had a number of promotions and on Saturday in collaboration with Ka Pai Kaiti, Adult Literacy Turanga were at the Kaiti Mall market with activities including live music. An exhibition of learners’ work and a free sausage sizzle rounded out the week.
