Holiday Rescue is the newest arrival on the travel insurance block.

Holiday Rescue is the newest arrival on the travel insurance block.

Ever heard of a travel insurance company that treats you like a friend instead of a policy number? We think it's about time you did.

Determined to improve travel insurance, they focus on what matters most - unlimited medical cover, express claims and free insurance cover for kids.

Holiday Rescue is the newest arrival on the travel insurance block, made up of a team of travel insurance specialists with more than 44 years' combined experience in the travel insurance industry. CEO Craig Morrison says Holiday Rescue is based off a totally different model from other travel insurance providers.

"Holiday Rescue is built on the ethos of treating people like people, instead of policy numbers or problems. After many years seeing how other travel insurance companies work, we want to do things the right way for our customers," he says.

"One of the biggest differences between us and other travel insurance providers is our response to emergencies. Unlike them, if you need urgent medical attention while overseas, we don't waste time getting quotes and choosing the lowest bidder. Instead, we make one call to our the rescue partner we trust that's closest to you."

"Our aim is to resolve any claim within two business days, efficiently and without fuss. Our packages focus on the safety and health of you and your family, putting medical cover and assistance first. At the end of the day, the health of you and your family is more important than anything else. That's why if you're concerned, you can also call our emergency assistance team and consult online with a doctor within 10 minutes - so you don't even have to leave your hotel room."

Morrison says the one thing customers can be sure of is that Holiday Rescue will not try and wriggle out of claims.

"After so many years in the travel insurance industry, you see travel insurance companies hiding behind their small print and doing their best not to pay out claims. We're the opposite – a trusted partner who speaks in plain English and makes it very clear what you are and aren't covered for," he says.

"We're challenging the way the travel insurance industry works by offering something completely different, which is so exciting. We're really looking forward to supporting more Kiwis as they travel the world – after all, everyone deserves a great holiday."

Holiday Rescue's Top Travel Insurance Tips
●Make sure you buy it! A medical emergency overseas can result in a bill of more than $200,000 – it's not worth the risk to travel without insurance
●Book your insurance at the same time as you buy your flights and accommodation, that way you're covered for those costs if you're unable to travel
●Make sure you understand your policy – you should know exactly what you are and aren't covered for before you go
●Beware of providers that speak in language you don't understand
●Don't blindly rely on credit card cover – you need to activate it properly, and it may not automatically provide the cover you need for your holiday
●Make sure you tell your insurer about any medical conditions – at Holiday Rescue we can cover you for most pre-existing conditions, as long as we know about them first
●Triple check your passports and any visas you need are valid for your trip and keep them on you when you're travelling
●Before you go, make sure you know what to do if the worst happens, keep your insurance emergency number on hand
