Police are urging witness to come forward after two men held up a Rotorua liquor store at gunpoint last night.
Police said one offender entered the Springfield Liquor Store, at St Andrews Shopping Centre about 7pm and attempted to leave without paying for two boxes of alcohol.
The shop attendant started to follow him from the store when another man appeared in the doorway and pointed a black pistol at him.
The attendant was forced to his knees and both men ran from the liquor store towards Old Taupo Road, Rotorua police detective Leonie Smith said.
"We are keen to find these two men as soon as possible," she said.
The man who took the alcohol was described as Maori or Polynesian, about 178cm tall, of solid build and aged 25-35. He was wearing a sleeveless white hoodie, light grey long-sleeved top with light blue jeans, and black and white sneakers.
The armed man was a fair-skinned Maori or Polynesian of slim to medium build and height, aged 17-30, and wearing a black sleeveless vest, dark brown t-shirt, black baseball style cap, light brown trousers and blue and white shoes.
