Two-car crash on State Highway 2 near Aongatete

One person has been taken to hospital with moderate injuries following a crash involving at least two cars and a ditch on State Highway 2 near Katikati.

A police spokeswoman said the crash happened on Tauranga West Rd - State Highway 2 - between Sharp and Hot Springs Rd, near Aongatete.

The police were called about 4.40pm.

She said people on the scene reported that everyone was out of their cars.

A motorist said both lanes were blocked but it did not appear that anyone was hurt.
