When Hawke's Bay and the West Coast made the switch to digital in September this year, an estimated 96 per cent of households were ready for the move.
Mr Baillie said there were people in these regions who left the move to digital TV until the last minute, and when they sought help from technicians or installers they found there was a long wait to get sorted.
"You don't need a new TV to go digital but most people who don't have digital TV will need some new equipment such as the right set-top box and an aerial or satellite dish,'' Mr Baillie said.
To find out what you need to go digitally visit www.goingdigital.co.nz/myhouse and enter the address where the TV is located, Mr Baillie said.
