I am really looking forward to the upcoming events that are being hosted in our city.
I think it's great a lot of these like the Paradox Tauranga Street Art Festival, We Run the Night Half Marathon and the World Junior Squash Championships are new to Tauranga.
It is alsopleasing to see the Tauranga City Council is throwing its support and in some instances, money behind these events.
Strategic and city events acting manager Jenna Quay says council has committed to invest $7.25 million over the next 10 years into major events. It helped meet the demand of the community for a humming city especially during the off season, she says.
Meanwhile events often require the input of volunteers and in my view Volunteering Bay of Plenty has made the right move by offering their expertise in this sector. Their experience may well be needed in the future.
