Weird and wobbly - that's how four Tauranga school children describe a trip to school in a helicopter. The four Tauranga Primary School students were lucky enough to get dropped off at school in the Tauranga-based TrustPower TECT rescue helicopter yesterday morning after one of them won a poster competition. Chloe Bailey,9, won the competition at the emergency services open day on May 10. "It felt kind of weird, it's like you've got a really good view, and the cars and the people are so small it feels like you're playing with them," she said. "We went around the Mount, when we kept turning on the side it felt like we were going to fall down." The helicopter touched down on the field at 9.10am and its occupants were greeted by a massive crowd of school students who had eagerly awaited its arrival. Nine-year-old Elise Connor was in the helicopter and said it was an unusual sensation. "The plane felt all wobbly," she said. "It felt like you were a bird going to school," added Cassidy Winslade, also 9. Helicopter pilot Liam Brettkelly said the kids had a lot of fun, even though they were a bit nervous at times. "They were pretty excited," he said. "They're not used to doing turns and things so they went pretty quiet on those. It's pretty good for them, not many kids get that sort of opportunity," Mr Brettkelly said. After the helicopter landed, Tauranga Primary School students were given a tour of the helicopter.
