"We want to finish on a high. We still have a chance to win [the series] and we have a good draw in that we have South Africa in our pool. We need a big day one in Glasgow and if we win the tournament we can go on to win the World Series."
Curry made his name in sevens playing for Manawatu during his university years but he is a Bay of Plenty boy to the core.
He grew up in Reporoa, the home town of All Blacks flanker Sam Cane and Steamers No8 Carl Axtens.
"I think we all grew up with that rural background, outside all the time playing rugby. Sam and Carl were in my younger brother's class so I saw plenty of them growing up."
The All Blacks Sevens squad has endured one of their toughest training camps at Mount Maunganui this week.
Coach Sir Gordon Tietjens says they lifted the intensity in everything they did.
"Collectively we're a lot fitter and better conditioned so we're in the right shape to do well in the next two tournaments," he said.
"We finished last season by winning the last two tournaments. But this will be tougher.
"We've been in this situation where at the death we've won another World Series so it's a challenge for us and I am hoping we really perform."
