Save At 11pm yesterday the Tauranga based Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Matakana Is.
A 8-year-old Whakatane girl was having breathing difficulties.
The girl was part of a school camp staying on the island for several days.
The girl was stabilised at the scene by the onboard paramedic before
being flown to Tauranga hospital for further treatment.
The flight was carried out using Night Vision equipment.
