A Katikati woman's selfless dedication and love for her community has earned her a nomination for the 2015 Pride of New Zealand Awards.
Susan Tukaki was born and bred in Katikati and has dedicated the past 18 years to helping her community as a Maori Warden.
Her nomination described her
as "one of the most caring people I know ... She is just the embodiment of community spirit ... Her dedication is always impressive".
Part of her role involves working with youth at risk, rape victims and domestic violence victims as well as being a mother, mentor and caretaker of the elderly.
Ms Tukaki said it was "surreal" to be nominated for work she simply called her passion.
