Power to parts of the central city was knocked out again today in the fourth big outage this year.
Businesses were left without electricity from about 8.30am.
TrustPower's faults line reported the cut affected the northern end of Cameron Rd, Brown St, Chapel St, Cross Rd, Keith Allen Drive, Mission St, Marsh St, Park St, Reid Place, McLean St, Willow St, Den Place and Monmouth St.
Lines company Powerco was unable to confirm the cause before the Bay of Plenty Times went to print.
A Tauranga City Council spokesman said he understood a digger sliced through a power cable at the Chapel St sewerage treatment works.
Some businesses reported power had been restored at 10am.
On August 11, an underground explosion and a burned-out transformer box caused two cuts before noon. On August 12, two cable faults and a damaged circuit breaker sparked a string of power cuts. Power was also cut to the central city on July 30 after a truck backed into a power pole.
