We could either put up some steel or put up some art work. The whole thing is 450sq/m, that's a whopping big mural.
A massive petrol tank is being transformed into a 450 sq/m work of art near one of the city's busiest roads.
The new Gull tank, recently constructed
besides the service station on Hewletts Rd, is being painted by a crew of five artists from Cut Collective who are drawing their inspiration from today's use of energy.
Gull New Zealand general manager Dave Bodger said having the mural on the tank, which is on a main arterial road, gave passing motorists something to look at as they drove by each day.
"We could either put up some steel or put up some art work. The whole thing is 450sq/m, that's a whopping big mural. More excitingly, we get to support Kiwi artists at the same time. We won't be doing any of the other tanks, this tank is the one with the best visibility from the street."
