One person has died in a crash on State Highway 2 at Pikowai.

A police spokeswoman said a truck and car collided before the truck rolled on to a different car.

The driver of the car involved in the collision died, and the drivers of the other vehicles were treated for minor injuries.

The road was closed between Otamarakau Valley Rd and Hauone Rd for a period as police carried out a serious crash investigation.

An NZTA spokeswoman said the road has since reopened with a temporary speed limit of 30km/h until tomorrow morning.
