Bay of Plenty Polytechnic's open day has proved a hit with about 800 school students visiting the tertiary institute.
The 800 students from schools and alternative education providers from all over the Bay of Plenty and as far as Hauraki Plains, Tokoroa and Whakatane.
Some students came by themselves from Taupo.Marketing advisor Gemma Bond said the students had access to free WiFi throughout the day.
"We had just under 400 log on and they managed to chew through 12.3GB of data."
Thirty-three sessions were held to give students information on programmes of study available at Bay of Plenty Polytechnic and between the sessions, there were competitions including giant egg and spoon races, balloon stomp, sardine challenge, and draws to win cash and prizes.
