What do the Bay of Plenty Steamers have in common with Lord Poddymouth and a sale of New Zealand literature?
It's not a trick question - they are all part of the fantastic weekend of events in Tauranga this Labour Weekend.
With the Tauranga Arts Festival 2009 now in full swing, a
busking festival in Mount Maunganui and the Steamers playing Taranaki, Bay residents and visitors will be spoilt for choice if they're looking for something to do.
And the good news is that fine weather is forecast - Saturday and Sunday will both be fine, with a high of 16C on Saturday and 18C on Sunday, MetService forecaster Ian Gall said.
Showers are forecast for tomorrow and are due to return on Monday.

FRIDAY:
Drivers Motorsport Bar, 11th Ave Plaza: Chris Gunn plays live 8pm-11pm (Hot rod cruise night on last Friday of month).
Welcome Bay Sports Bar & Grill: Monthly big band nite featuring Rotorua 5-piece Count me In. R&B/ rock fusion band 8pm.

Mainstream, play at Mount RSA.

Bay Salsa Festival Dance workshops, showcase performances, street displays and stalls. Otumoetai Action Centre, Tauranga

SATURDAY:

The Cargo Shed 10am- 4pm. 5 Dive Crescent, Tauranga. High quality original artwork for sale. Body artist painting a model from 10.30am to early afternoon.
Mount Maunganui Busking Festival, midday to 2.30pm, downtown Mount Maunganui.

Art in the Park 8am-5pm, Coronation Park, Mt Maunganui.Tauranga Society of Artists offer for sale a variety of art to suit all tastes and pockets. Sunday if wet.
