Tauranga's Riding for the Disabled officially opens its new $800,000 indoor arena tomorrow.
The 20m x 63m clear-span arena, with sand and rubber chip floor, was finished late last year after years of hard work and fundraising.
The new arena at Ngapeke Rd, Welcome Bay, includes disabled toilets and showers and a laundry, none of which were previously available at the centre.
It will be opened by Governor-General Sir Jerry Mateparae.
This will be the start of a four day visit to the Western Bay for the Governor-General.
The official opening of the Tauranga Riding for the Disabled Indoor Arena, Te Maru o Ng?ti Pukenga, will be followed by a formal welcome to the region by the Tauranga Moana Iwi at Maungatapu Marae.
His four-day visit will also include visits to the Rena Incident Control Centre, Mount Maunganui College, a kiwifruit orchard in Paengaroa and the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic.
On Wednesday, Sir Jerry Mateparae will release two Kiwi into Otanewainuku Forest.
