11.32am: A fire at a Maori immersion school in Papamoa has been put out by fire fighters, a photographer at the scene says.
Smoke was spotted coming from the school, children were evacuated and the fire service was called shortly after 11am.
11.11am: A fire is believed to be burning
at a Maori immersion school in Papamoa, on the corner of State Highway 2 and Welcome Bay Rd.
A photographer near Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Te Kura Kokiri said he could see smoke coming from the school.
"All the kids are out being evacuated. I'd say the fire service will be here soon."
