A free family event for all ages and cultures had the crowds rolling into Greerton Village School.
The first Greerton Family Festival was a huge success according to event co-ordinator Tina Salisbury, who estimated 1000 people had visited the school field before lunchtime yesterday.
Singers performed on a stage whileattendees made the most of a free sausage sizzle and hangi on offer.
One of the biggest drawcards of the festival for the young people was a giant foosball set that was built for the occasion, with children holding on to pipes and kicking a giant tennis ball.
Mrs Salisbury, who is also the Journey Restorative Trust manager, said the foosball set had been running non-stop since the festival started.
The event was mainly marketed in Greerton, although people from all over the city attended.
Friends Soi Pearson and Emma Potaka brought their children to the event. Mrs Pearson said they had enjoyed being able to sit on the grass and listen to music, as well as all the free food and fun games.
