So I'd been for a good people watch down the end-of-those born-this-millennium and I was on my way back to close B2KDA's set, got a call they were finishing a little ahead of time so started to run. Made it to just behind the stage, full canter, missed the kerb and stopped my fall square with the top of my head ... on the corner of The Hits stage. Who knew head wounds bled like a cut 3L bottle of cranberry?! But they do! It looked like someone had done an illegal surgery backstage!
So we used an entire box of wet wipes and half a thing of tissues to clean my face, hands and arms off, they kicked me back on to the stage to close the set and as I wandered back off again, blood started trickling down my face. It's the closest thing I've been to professional in years.
Longish story short, I went to A&E the next day 'cos it was still bleeding and they glued it. Weird that they glue stuff now. I heard that at a push you can do it yourself with glue at home ... though I'm not a medical doctor. I Googled that. Surely Google wouldn't steer me wrong on medical issue, right?!
So among the revellers and the young and pre-regretful was a sober dude with a head injury helping bring in a new year in the Bay.
It was memorable alright! Maybe in my next performance review I'll sight a KPI involving 'willing to bleed for his job'? Surely that will be met with an increase?!
