PSIS Tauranga Branch now has a drop-off point for items to go to the Tauranga Foodbank.
Branch manager Sam Jones said her staff wanted to assist the Foodbank because "there are people out there in need".
"We decided as a group through our service that we could help out," Mrs Jones said.
Members
of the public would find the drop-off point for non-perishable items of food in the branch's public banking chamber.
The Willow St branch was open from 9am to 5pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 9.30am to 5pm on Tuesday.
Tauranga Foodbank secretary Glenn Spedding said the new drop-off point was "very helpful", given that the Foodbank on Dive Cres could receive donations only between its opening hours of 9.30am to 2pm.
Mr Spedding said the Foodbank did not have an after-hours drop off-box because of the rubbish that would get posted through.
