Daylight saving begins this Sunday

The water might be a bit chilly but it's time to dig out your bathing suit and clean the cobwebs off the barbecue because summer is just around the corner.

Daylight saving begins this week and for many people, it signals the start of warmer weather.

On Sunday, September 30, daylight saving will begin, when 2am becomes 3am.

Clocks will go forward one hour so people will get one less hour sleep.

The extra hour of daylight in the evenings will end on Sunday April 7 when clocks go back an hour at 3am to 2am.

People may find it convenient to put their clocks forward one hour before going to bed on Saturday September 29.

The change to daylight saving is also a good time for residents to check their household emergency plans, survival kits and home smoke alarms.
