Concrete block falls on man

A man has had urgent surgery after a 300 kilogram block of concrete fell on him at a Bay of Plenty trucking firm.

Brent Leek was working at Omokoroa Carriers when the concrete block fell, crushing his leg and abdomen.

The 45-year-old is in the intensive care unit at Tauranga Hospital.

The Department of Labour is investigating.
