Two cars have crashed in downtown Tauranga this morning.

A police media communications spokeswoman said two cars collided at the intersection of 1st Ave and Devonport Rd at 10.36am.

The spokeswoman said the people involved suffered minor injuries and were "in a bit of shock".

One of the cars was "T-boned", she said.

The crash blocked the intersection for a short time but was it believed to have since been cleared.
