A road painted less than a week ago is set to be resealed today.
On Tuesday residents near a section of Papamoa Beach Rd at the intersection with Thompson Rd received a notice from Higgins the road would be resealed today.
The same day, a contracting crew was seen touching up line-markings in the area to be resealed. Contacted for comment, the Tauranga City Council initially said the intersection had not been remarked since July last year.
After further investigations, however, the council said remarking had been done within the last week.
The remarking had been initiated by a subcontractor - unbeknownst to the council or its primary contractor.
The council said the work at that specific intersection was "undertaken in error" and there would be no cost to the council as a result.
The council is resealing the 40m stretch from 1259 to 1263 Papamoa Beach Rd.
Hot mix is being instead of chip seal because it is an intersection and experiences higher turning stresses.
It was the only section of Papamoa Beach Rd being redone in this year's resealing programme, at a cost of about $12,000.
