MetService Weather New Zealand: August 3rd - 5th

A heavy rain warning is in place for the Bay of Plenty.

MetService issued the warning and said a slow-moving front was expected to stay around the East Cape and Bay of Plenty through to Monday.

A low is forecast to develop north of the Bay of Plenty today.

The front and low are expected to create a prolonged period of rain with heavy falls at times.

MetService was asking people to keep up to date with forecasts as heavy rain may cause streams and rivers to rise rapidly.

Surface flooding and slips are also possible and driving conditions may be hazardous.

The five-day forecast on the MetService website is for rain through to Wednesday in Rotorua, Taupō, Whakatāne, and Tauranga.
